When you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your name, email address, selected topic and message. We use it only to respond to your enquiry, discuss requested services and protect the form from misuse. Our hosting provider may also retain standard technical server logs for security and reliable operation.

The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and securing this website. We retain correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes and any applicable legal obligations. We do not sell your information. It may be processed by service providers that operate our website and email under appropriate safeguards.

You may ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict or object to processing, or receive applicable information about data portability. You may also complain to Finland’s Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman. Contact us at the address above to exercise your rights.

This site currently uses no advertising cookies or third-party analytics. A short-lived, strictly necessary session cookie may be set when the contact form is submitted to limit duplicate or automated messages. If our use of cookies changes, this notice will be updated and consent will be requested where required.

Posts in the archive are reproduced from the Spreading Spores page and keep their original links and hashtags; the research and news items they discuss are credited and linked, never reproduced.

Photographs in the archive come from Wikimedia Commons (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA or public domain) and are credited with author, licence and a link to the file page, or from the cited article where that article is openly licensed (CC BY 4.0), credited with authors, year and DOI link. Every post lists its source and image credit in the "Source & credits" block, and image-credits.csv lists all 126 images with their type, credit, licence and link.
